Power99 FM, a project of “The Communicators (Pvt) Ltd, is a commercial FM Radio giving 24 hours of entertainment and information. The company’s management and its team brings together 14 years of experience in the field of audio- visual production. The Communicators has produced several programs both for national and international organizations such as Ministry of Population Welfare, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Law and Justice, anti Narcotics Force, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation fund,
Action Aid, Aurat Foundation, UNICEF and others.

Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund:

In 2002, a twenty member creative team of The Communicators produced‘ Poverty line’ a 156 episode series of weekly fifteen-minute radio programs. The programs were produced in six languages and broadcast by radio stations in eight cities. These programs were lauded by the press and other related organizations for the unique creative approach against poverty alleviation.

UNICEF Pakistan:

The Communicators provided technical support to UNICEF for generating about 50,000 copies of programs on mothers’ health in two regional languages of Balochistan in 1999.In 2002, The Communicators designed and produced a series 15 radio programs on ‘latrines’.

Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF):

The Communicators has been the official audio consultant and production company for ANF from 1999 to 2001. During this period, ‘The Communicators’ designed, produced and implemented an awareness campaign on the hazards of narcotics and drugs. The three years long series of weekly programs entitled as ‘Raushni ka Safar’ was transmitted on radio stations in 8 cities.

Ministry of Population Welfare (MOW):

In 2001,The Communicators designed and produced a variety of 15 minutes duration radio programs and audio messages, for the MOW, on issues concerning population welfare.

Green Press Pakistan-Green Radio:

Green Press Pakistan is an NGO working in the field of civic communication and developmental issues since 1992. The Communicators in collaboration with Green Press launched Pakistan’s first internet-based radio ‘The Green Radio’ in 2000, which produced and broadcast programs and reports on environment, human rights and civic responsibility.

Liberal Forum Pakistan:

The Communicators produced and broadcast a 156 episode series of weekly fifteen-minute radio programs on various themes of civic concerns in 2004.

Society for the Protection of the Rights of Child (SPARC)- International Labour Organization:

In 1994, The Communicators produced and broadcast, for SPARC and ILO, a series of radio documentaries, each of 20 minutes duration, on child labour in Pakistan.

JICA (Japan) & EFA Wing Ministry of Education:

The Communicators designed, produced and broadcast a series of 8, 15minutes, weekly programs on “Adult Literacy” for JICA and Ministry of Education in 2004.

The Network for Consumer Protection:

Since 2004, The Communicators has been producing and broadcasting a series of weekly, one hour, audience participated programs on consumer rights.

National Reconstruction Bureau:

In June 2005, The Communicators produced and broadcast a series of 32 radio programs on devolution and role of local governments. The series was aired on two stations.

Friedrich Naumann Stiftung:

In 2003, The Communicators produced, for Friedrich Naumann Stiftung, a series of 15 radio programs, 20 minutes each, on various civic issues entitled ‘New Afghanistan’ in Dari and pushto languages for audience in Afghanistan and tribal areas of Pakistan.

Rural Development Policy Institute:

Currently a series of weekly programs with the name of ‘Disaster watch’ are going on air. The show is managed and organized by Rural Development Policy Institute. The show has helped raise issues related to the plight of the earthquake-hit affectees in the province of NWFP and Azad Jammu& Kashmir.

Response to the Earthquake of October 8, 2005:

The Radio also has the honor to have positively responded to the deadly earthquake of October 10 last year that killed over 2 lac people and displaced millions of them. The government of Pakistan gave relief licenses for Bagh and Muzaffarabad that ended this June. During all this period our two relief stations rendered valuable services by providing quality information and entertainment.

International Organization for Migration:

IOM was the first organization that first started work with Power99 FM for E Q hit communities and got tremendous response.

News & Current Affairs:

In March this year, realizing the importance of objective and timely information to the citizens of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Power 99 FM has started a first ever initiative of local news from its Islamabad broadcast station and currently 12 news bulletins and reports are going on air. Besides, the evening prime time is dedicated to the talk shows on issues of social and political importance.

The Communicators’ FM Radio Network:

The Power99 FM has been relaying its transmissions to a diverse audience since 2003. It started off by opening a broadcast station in Islamabad covering an aerial distance of a radius of 70 km. Now, besides Islamabad, it has four other broadcast stations operating from Haripur, Gujar Khan, Abottabad, and Vehari.

Repertoire:

The company also has a broad repertoire of professionals fluent in languages like Urdu, Punjabi, Saraiki, Potohari, Pashto, Balochi, Hindko and English. These include researchers, writers, broadcasters and producers.
