Saarif Nama

"Saarif Nama" is a radio program of 45.73 minutes duration aired fortnightly to educate people about how to submit complaints to Consumer Helpline. Consumer Helpline provides support to earthquake survivors who have problems with aid agencies (both government as well as non-government). It is a project of Bedari - a local NGO that primarily focuses on women's rights issues.

Bedari felt that there was a need to educate people about their right to get aid from aid agencies, and if there was any wrongdoing or misappropriation of the aid meant for earthquake survivors, they could submit a complaint. As most of the earthquake survivors were either completely illiterate or hardly literate people, there was no use of putting advertisements in print as it would not reach out to most of its target audience. In this scenario, FM Radio was the best option, as Bedari has made use of advertisements in local language which people can easily understand.

Radio Program "Saarif Nama" is to take this publicity campaign to another level by engaging people in conversation/discussion on accountability related issues. We may invite representatives from different NGOs to give their point of view as well as common men and women to share their problems. We, at Bedari, believe that FM Radio is the most economical way to get your message across to your target audience."

This program goes on air from Power 99.4 Abbottabad.
